Serving Kanata
A tech corridor built on 1980s-2000s housing stock
Kanata grew rapidly from the 1980s onward as Ottawa’s west-end technology corridor, and became part of the City of Ottawa when the region amalgamated in 2001. That growth curve matters for asbestos: a large share of Kanata’s housing stock was built right around 1986, the year Ontario banned asbestos in residential construction, which means popcorn ceilings, vinyl floor tile, and attic insulation from that era are all realistic finds during a renovation. We test before we assume, whether the project is a single ceiling in an older Kanata subdivision or a larger commercial fit-out in the tech park.

Asbestos testing and removal throughout Kanata
Kanata became part of the City of Ottawa in the 2001 municipal amalgamation.
A large share of Kanata's subdivisions and office/tech park buildings date to the 1980s and 1990s, the exact window when asbestos use in construction materials was being phased out.
Testing before renovation matters most in homes built right around the 1986 ban, since materials installed just before or after that date can go either way.
Kanata asbestos questions
Is asbestos common in Kanata homes?
It depends heavily on the build year. A lot of Kanata's housing stock dates to the 1980s and 1990s, right around when Ontario banned asbestos in residential construction in 1986, so testing rather than guessing is the safe approach for a home from that era.
Do you serve Kanata's tech park commercial buildings as well as homes?
Yes. We handle both residential asbestos testing and removal in Kanata's subdivisions and commercial abatement work in the tech park's office and industrial buildings.
How quickly can you get to a Kanata property for an assessment?
